Recruitment of Project Scientist & SRF in ICMAM Project Directorate 2011

Applications are invited for filling up following temporary project positions purely in project mode in the ICMAM Project Directorate, Chennai, an attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences(MoES) initially for a period of one year extendable further based on performance as per details given below:

Shoreline Management:

Project Scientists-I: 3 Nos

Place of posting: Chennai or at any other location in India

Emoluments: Rs.36,000/- p.m (inclusive of HRA) plus an annual performance incentive @ 3% of the consolidated salary will be provided subject to completion of one year and satisfactory performance of the scientist.

Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree in Oceanography with Physical Oceanography or First Class B.E/B.Tech in Engineering/Technology with subjects relevant to Coastal Engineering, and 2 years of research experience in field data collection, analysis and numerical modeling of oceanographic parameters.

Senior Research Fellow: 1 No

Emoluments: Rs.14,000/- p.m + HRA as per rules

Qualification: First class M.Sc., in Science subjects relating to Physical Oceanography / Marine Science with two years of experience in the subject evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

Marine Ecotoxicology

Project Scientist-II: 1 No. Ref: PS/ME

Place of posting: Chennai or at any other location in India

Emoluments: Rs.38, 000/- p.m(inclusive of HRA) plus an annual performance incentive @ 3% of the consolidated salary will be provided subject to completion of one year and satisfactory performance of the scientist.

Qualification: Ph D in Science relating to Marine environment/toxicology/biochemistry or First Class M.Sc in science with 3 years of experience or M.Phil in Science with 2 years of experience in marine eco-toxicology by way of conduct of bioassay studies, enzyme assay techniques and analysis of heavy metals, pesticides and Poly Aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

Senior Research Fellow: 3 nos.

Emoluments: Rs.14,000/- p.m + HRA

Position No.1 Essential: First class Master’s degree in science relating to Marine Science/Marine Biology/Oceanography & Coastal studies or its equivalent from recognized university with 2 years exp. in toxicity studies as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

Position No.2 Essential: First class Master’s degree in science relating to Environmental Toxicology/Zoology or its equivalent from a recognized University with 2 years exp. in toxicity studies as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

Position No.3 Essential: First class Master’s degree in Science relating to Inorganic chemistry/Environmental Chemistry/Marine Chemistry or its equivalent from a recognized University with 2 years exp. in toxicity studies as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.

Junior Research Fellow: 3 nos

Place of posting: Chennai or at any other location in India

Emoluments: 16,000 pm + HRA

Position No.1 Essential: First Class Master’s Degree in Life Sciences/Marine Biology/Oceanography & Coastal studies or its equivalent from a recognized university. Should be passed in National Eligibility Test(NET) conducted jointly by CSIR-UGC(vide Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi O.M. No. A.20020/11/97-IFD, dt: 31.03.2010) evidenced by a certificate.

Position No. 2 Essential: First class Master’s degree in science relating to Environmental toxicology/Zoology or its equivalent from a recognized University. Should be passed in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted jointly by CSIR-UGC UGC (vide Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi O.M. No. A.20020/11/97-IFD, dt: 31.03.2010) evidenced by a certificate.

Position No.3 Essential: First Class Master’s Degree in Science relating to Inorganic Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry/Marine Chemistry or its equivalent from a recognized university. Should be passed in National Eligibility Test(NET) conducted jointly by CSIR-UGC UGC(vide Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi O.M. No. A.20020/11/97-IFD, dt: 31.03.2010) evidenced by a certificate.

Ecosystem Modeling including Bio-geochemistry

Project Scientist-I: 1 No Ref: PS/ESM

Emoluments: Rs.36,000/- p.m(inclusive of HRA) plus an annual performance incentive @ 3% of the consolidated salary will be provided subject to completion of one year and satisfactory performance of the scientist.

Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree in Marine Sciences/Oceanography with Chemical Oceanography/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry with 2 years minimum experience in research relating to nutrients, trace metals and organic chemicals in the marine, estuarine and coastal environment, as evidenced by minimum one publication in research journals.
